D1. Teaching Assistants will demonstrate evidence of professionalism as defined by the Department of English Graduate Handbook and the Reglamento of the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez.
Having worked previously in the realm of education as a teaching assistant in summer school and an instructor in the UPRM's English Writing Center had given me the experience required of being in a professional environment, so when the time came to be an instructor in the UPRM I already knew how to act professionally. Being able to teach in my alma mater alongside peers that studied with me and professors that were at once and continue to be my mentors motivated me to be as respectful, charismatic and professional as possible. This discipline and following the rules found in the Reglamento de Profesores and the G.T.A.Handbook of UPRM has given me the opportunity to teach the courses INGL 3103 thrice and INGL 3104 once in the span of three semesters.
Watching my father teach throughout the years has shown me that if one respects students and lets them know that we are all equal they will be more responsive to learning, which is why every day I call them, as my father does his pupils, familia. This type of connection has helped to get them interested in class and feel they can be as expressive as possible.

D2. Teaching Assistants will build and maintain professional relationships with students, mentors, colleagues, and other University community members.
Through my years of experience working in the UPRM's English Writing Center (EWC), I have had the opportunity to maintain a connection students, mentors, peers and other members of the university community by helping them improve their speaking and writing skills in a variety of ways. Some of the services I provide as an instructor of the UPRM - EWC include speaking logs where I help members of the population practice their communication expertise, and writing sessions where I aid community fellows work on their essays, résumés, and other documents.
D3. Teaching Assistants will seek and demonstrate value of professional growth through involvement in professional organizations, maintenance and enrichment of proficiency in English, and awareness of research on language acquisition and pedagogy.
There are various ways in which I have been improving, maintaining and enriching my understanding of English outside the classroom. As a published author in literary magazines such as [Id]entidad, El Vicio del Tintero, Sábanas, and my own books of poetry I have been able to maintain contact with the community at large. I have also been able to grow professionally through participation in multiple open mics hosted by the projects Vox Populi and Arte en la Plácita, both of which provide open spaces so anybody willing to participate can express themselves in any shape, way or form. I have also had the opportunity to serve as a photographer for the UPRM chapter of HerCampus several times and as a filmmaker for the project Siempre Vivas.
