As an educator, one my jobs is to make sure my students understand what is being discussed. More often than not, they manage to grasp the ideas in class and this can be seen in the weekly blog reflections that are part of the requirements in my courses. But sometimes they do not capture the concepts quickly, which is why I evaluate them through at least five (5) short quizzes throughout the entire semester, being one quiz per chapter.
A great example of a time where I made sure my students understood a concept was when they had a quick True or False quiz on MLA. For the first essay they had to write they confirmed that they had understood how to use this format but the essays showed otherwise, so before writing their second essay of the semester we reviewed MLA once again and the day after I gave them a quick quiz to make sure they understood some of the key concepts they would use in the upcoming essay.

C2. Teaching Assistants will critically analyze own effectiveness in promoting learning and development.
Making a connection with my students and getting them interested in learning English and other fields has always been one of my missions as an educator. Through poetry, music and film, I have been able to get learners' attention in an era where they can get easily distracted. Not only that but getting them to learn this language in creative ways by writing poetry and making their own short films accompanied with their essays gets them entertained and provides them a sense of comfort where they feel they can express themselves academically and creatively.

C3. Teaching Assistants will inquire systematically into their practice in order to improve curriculum and instruction for all learners.
After being observed peers and the coordinators of the University Teaching Development (UTD) course at the University of Puerto Rico - Mayagüez (UPRM), I have been able to improve my teaching methods and techniques. Taking into consideration the thoughts provided in these exchanges, have allowed me to grow as a teacher even helping me in the creation of a daily reflection where I write down ideas on how to enhance and better the learning experience for my students. These types of interactions have been very influential in my constant use of multimedia in the classroom and group learning teaching technique.
